Our team is mainly composed of professors from the department of “Analytique, opérations et technologies de l’information (AOTI)”, as well as from professors from other universities abroad.
Regular Members
Director: Ygal Bendavid, professor in operations management in the Department of Analytics, operations & IT (AOTI) at the school of management (ESG) Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He is the director of the IoT Lab. As a specialist in IoT, Ygal has been in the sector for over 15 years. He has contributed to put in place various RFID/IoT labs (@ePoly research center-École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2003, RFID Academia lab 2006, Smart Logistics & Transportation Laboratory (SLTL)/ESG-UQAM 2014). Ygal is a committee member of the LATECE (Research laboratory on emerging Internet technologies), board committee memberCRI2G (Research center on the management of intelligent2 complex systems) one of the «leaders» of the SDG Innovation Network. And an affiliated member of HumanIA – Humanistic and multidisciplinary studies and research on artificial intelligence. He is also a member of RFID Journal Live «ask the experts» and Judge on the RFID Journal Awards.
Co-director: Yasmina Maïzi, p professor in operations management in the Department of Analytics, operations & IT (AOTI) at the school of management (ESG) Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). She is the co-director of the IoT Lab. Yasmina is a specialist in operational systems modeling and complex systems simulation. She helps the team assess the impact of various technology scenarios/designs on operational performance. Her research interests focus on the development of digital twins in the healthcare sector. Dr. Maïzi is an associate member of LATECE (Laboratoire de recherche transdisciplinaire sur les écosystèmes informatiques), as well as CRI2GS (Centre de recherche sur l’intelligence2 en gestion de systèmes complexes). Dr. Maïzi is also responsible for the UQAM node within the SDG Innovation Network. notably for the electric air mobility project for the SDG Innovation Network.
Matthieu Gruson, professor in operations management – Department of Analytics, operations & IT (AOTI) (ESG-UQAM). He is project manager responsible for various projects at the IoT Lab.
Samad Rostampour, IT Director of the IoT Lab., is also a professor @ Vanier college Vanier and post doc researcher @ the IoT lab. Samad is a specialist in IoT and has worked on numerous projects involving passive UHF RFID technologies, Active RFID, RTLS, BLE, and LiFi. He is also exploring IoT edge devices (RPI, Adruino, Jetson,…) on different platforms (Azure, Aws). Samad is also a speaker @ RFID Journal Live and Judge on the RFID Journal Awards.

Nasour Bagheri is an associate professor at the Electrical Engineering Department, Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University, Tehran, Iran. He is also a researcher with the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM). Nasour Bagheri received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Mazandaran University, the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), and IUST in 2000, 2002 and 2010, respectively. He is the author of more than 100 articles in information security and cryptology.
Masoumeh Safkhani is currently an Assistant Professor with the Computer Engineering Department, Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University, Tehran, Iran. She received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology, in 2012, with the security analysis of RFID protocols as her major field. She is the author/co-author of over 50 technical articles in information security and cryptology in major international journals and conferences.
